Brazil: Carlo Ancelotti would have agreed to become the new coach of the Seleçao

by time news

Two months after their elimination in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar against Croatia after the penalty shootout, the Seleçao have finally found their new coach. According to information from ESPN Brazil, Carlo Ancelotti has accepted the proposal of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) to become the future coach of the Brazilian national team.

If nothing is signed yet, the Brazilian media claims that the Italian coach has agreed to train the Auriverde from the summer of 2023. The proposed contract would be for three years, to go until the 2026 World Cup organized by Canada, the United States and Mexico. No formalization would be planned immediately, the time for Carlo Ancelotti to settle the conditions of his departure from Real Madrid (his contract runs until June 2024). But the Brazilian internationals of the Spanish team – Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Éder Militão – would already be aware of the choice of their coach.

Who to succeed him at Real Madrid?

At 63, Carlo Ancelotti would become coach for the first time in his career. He had simply been an assistant with Italy from 1992 to 1995, before becoming head coach with Reggiana. Brazil would be the twelfth team he takes charge of, after notably AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich. Winner of the Champions League four times, he is also the only coach in history to have won the five major European championships.

This probable departure also raises the question of the identity of the next technician to take place on the bench of Real Madrid. Several names have returned in recent weeks to the Spanish press. They are Zinédine Zidane, for a third stint in this role, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, both free since their respective departures from Chelsea and PSG, the German Jürgen Klopp, at the end of the cycle in Liverpool, and finally Madrid legend Raul.
