The new BMW M4 CSL has a powerful power unit and specific chassis upgrades for track driving, alongside impressive acceleration figures: 3.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and 10.7 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h. The curb weight of the M4 CSL is 1,625 kilograms. The power (hp) to weight (kg) ratio of 2.95 kg/hp provides the ideal platform for a supreme driving experience.
The use of M Carbon seats reduced the weight by approximately 24 kg, compared to the standard seats installed in the BMW M4. An additional 21 kg were shed by removing the rear seats, along with changes in technical components, including the addition of M Carbon ceramic brakes and special light alloy rims – which lowered the figure by an additional 21 kilograms.
BMW Laserlight headlights that come as standard, recall the look of GT racing cars. The LED taillights are equipped with technology making its debut in a series production car; Their glass covers are interwoven with light wires illuminated by laser technology, which creates a unique light signature that cannot be ignored.
The power unit is based on the same six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology found in the BMW M4 GT3 racing car. The key to this power increase was an increase in the maximum pressure of the two turbochargers from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar and model-specific adjustments to the engine management. The engine of the BMW M4 CSL develops peak torque between 2,750 and 5,950 rpm and the maximum power is 551 hp. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
Like the engine in the new BMW M4 CSL, its chassis technology benefits from a wealth of detail upgrades tailored to the power unit’s performance characteristics. In the engine compartment, a front plate developed from scratch increases the body rigidity of the new BMW M4 CSL. Suspension calibration is unique to the model, which includes a combination of adaptive M shock absorbers and springs in height and stiffness (different from the BMW M4 Competition model – eight millimeters less.
The M Carbon seats come fully electrically adjustable and can be heated, as are the removable headrests and allow the integration of a six-point belt system.
The M Alcantara steering wheel, black roof trim, carbon fiber interior trim strips, “CSL” badges on the seats, center console and rear panel, plus M-specific displays also help create the perfect setting for sporty driving pleasure. Merino leather trim and M seat belts are also offered as standard. In the back compartment you can find two dedicated storage units for helmets. In the driver’s environment we will find the advanced connectivity system BMW Live Cockpit Professional which includes a 12.3-inch screen next to a 10.25-inch dashboard.
