While the Victoires de la Musique ceremony took place on Friday, February 10, the singer Jacques delivered a “naked” performance. The singer, recognizable with his tonsure and his long hair, appeared on stage, in a mountain of hair. Arms came out of the mound to dance in rhythm, giving rise to an unexpected choreography. Jacques, who was named in the male revelation category, did not win a trophy.

The singer Calogero, in charge of giving a Victoire de la musique d’honneur to Serge Lama, Friday evening February 10, was very moved by the 80-year-old singer. “Serge, I have always admired you a lot,” he began, before crying as he took Serge Lama’s hand. “French song owes you immense, timeless, earthy, powerful songs,” continued Calogero. “I love the man as much as the artist, because you are humble and because you never take yourself for Serge Lama”, concluded the artist.

The Belgian singer, Pierre de Maere won the Victory of the male revelation of the year, Friday February 10, 2023. He reacted in a tweet on Saturday morning: “Victorized, what an evening, I dream all awake!!! Thank you thank you thank you . Life is beautiful. Congratulations also to Tiakola, Jacques and Lujipeka who so deserved this great prize!”.

Singer November Ultra won the Victory for Female Revelation of the Year on Friday February 10. During his acceptance speech, the artist greeted his two competitors in this category: Emma Peters and Mentissa. “I’m 34, you’re never too old, it’s never too late,” assured the singer.

In a heartbreaking speech, Serge Lama, who is celebrating his 80th birthday on Saturday February 11, announced the end of his career. Friday evening, he received a Victory of Honor: “This is perhaps the last time tonight that I will see an audience cheer me on my feet. You know it, I am stopping the costs, my body can no longer follow, I can’t sing sitting down,” explained the singer, very moved.

Stromae, which won Male Artist of the Year and Best Album for Multitude, delivered a moving performance with his title hell. In this song, the Belgian singer evokes the suicidal thoughts that crossed him and gives himself up without taboo.

The singer Angèle left with two Victoires de la musique, at the end of the ceremony, Friday, February 10. Friday, February 10, the singer Orelsan, named in three categories of Victoires de la Musique, won three trophies. In each of the Victoires de la Musique categories, the names of the winners were known throughout the evening. As during the 2022 edition, it was Orelsan who swept everything in its path with three trophies won: Original Song, Concert and Audiovisual Creation. Behind him, Stromae with two Victories, Artist and Album of the Year, and Angèle, crowned Female Artist of the Year and Most Streamed Album for an Artist. On the Revelations side, Pierre de Maere and November Ultra each won their category.

The Victoires de la Musique took place on Friday February 10, 2023, at the musical Seine in Boulogne-Billancourt, at the gates of Paris. The ceremony was broadcast live, from 9:10 p.m., on France 2 and France Inter.
Like the last editions of the Victoires de la musique, in particular one without an audience for health reasons linked to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the 2023 ceremony took place at the musical Seine, in Boulogne-Billancourt, at the gates of Paris.
Each year at the Victoires de la Musique, the names of the winners were in the hands of a college of voters, made up of 900 professionals from the music industry and members “outside the music industry”, recruited on a cover letter. The public, however, had a say in one category, that of Original Song of the Year. The votes were open until the day before the ceremony: it was possible to vote on the France Télévisions site, once a day, with an email address.
