Women’s T20 World Cup – Smriti Mandana out of match against Pakistan

by time news

Cape Town:

India will face Pakistan tomorrow in the Women’s T20 World Cup cricket series. For this, the Indian players have been training intensively.

Meanwhile, India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandana has withdrawn from the match against Pakistan due to a finger injury. Smriti Mandhana injured her finger while fielding in a practice match against Australia recently. Due to this, he did not participate in the practice match against Bangladesh. He will also miss tomorrow’s match against Pakistan as the injury has not yet healed.

Commenting on this, coach Kanitkar said, ‘Smriti will not play most of the time as she is still recovering from a finger injury. It is not a fracture. So, we hope that he will play from the second league game,” he said.

The coach also said that captain Harmanpreet Kaur has fully recovered from the shoulder injury sustained during the tri-series against West Indies and South Africa. Vice-captain Mandhana’s absence from tomorrow’s match is considered a setback for the team.

In the World Cup, the Indian team is in Group B. India will face the other teams in this category like England, Pakistan, West Indies and Ireland in the league round.
