Russia launched a major missile attack in the east

Russia unleashed a barrage of strikes across Ukraine from Thursday to Friday, particularly against the southern city of Zaporizhia and the northeastern region of Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials. However, the capital Kyiv was also hit in the attack.

The governments of Ukraine and Moldova claimed that a Russian cruise missile crossed the territory of Moldova.

President Volodymyr Zelensky this week finished a diplomatic tour of European capitals during which he called for more modern tanks, long-range missiles and fighter jets to be sent to Kyiv.

US President Joe Biden will visit Poland this month to mark the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
