Mohanlal says he is happy with the positive response to his new movie ‘Marakkar: The Lion of the Arabian Sea’ (Marakkar). He also thanked the cast and crew behind the film. Mohanlal’s response was through social media.
“I am very happy with the positive comments from friends and family around the world that Marakkar is getting. I would like to thank all the activists who worked behind Marakkar. This film would not have become a reality without the support of each and every one of you,” Mohanlal wrote on Facebook with Marakkar Still.
The film was released on Thursday in theaters around the world after a long wait of two years. Released in 626 theaters in Kerala, the film had a global theatrical count of 4100. The line-up had said that the film would have 16,000 screenings on the first day. Weeks ago, advance ticket reservations for the film had started at several major centers. Prior to its release, Ashirwad Cinemas had announced that the film had grossed over Rs 100 crore through advance bookings. Marakkar, the most expensive movie in Malayalam, has a budget of Rs 100 crore. It also won the Best Picture award at the National Film Awards this year.
