Teachers demand better working conditions and not only in the salary aspect, they also ask that greater respect be given to the profession. “More than 150,000 people” participated in the protest, according to the National Federation of Teachers (FENPROF), the main union in the sector. “It is probably the biggest demonstration of teachers” that Portugal has seen, said its general secretary, Mario Nogueira. The workers also demand that the hours they actually work be taken into account.
