LGolf superstar Tiger Woods announced his return to competition on the North American PGA Tour on Friday at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles next week, seven months after his last appearance on the greens at the British Open last year. “I’m ready to play a REAL PGA Tour tournament next week at the Genesis Invitational,” tweeted the 47-year-old American, winner of 15 grand slam events.

This event which he is sponsoring is therefore his return to school at the start of the year. It is one of the rare tournaments that he has never won yet, he who nevertheless co-holds, with Sam Snead, the record for the number of USPGA victories (82), the last dating back to 2019 at the Zozo Championship. But the Genesis, in Los Angeles County, is also a very bad memory for Woods. A first discreet return after his accident

He suffered several open fractures in his legs, especially the right, the most damaged, which gave little hope for the continuation of his career. But Tiger, who had already recovered from many major health problems, especially his back, was able to make his comeback more than a year later at the Augusta Masters, where he ranked 47e, a remarkable performance on a hilly and demanding course. He had planned to participate in the Hero World Challenge last December, he suffered from plantar fasciitis, making his right foot sore in the heel and arch area. An injury related to those suffered the previous year during his road accident. The “Tiger” had nevertheless played a 12 hole with his son Charlie, a few days later, in an exhibition, the PNC Championship. He took the opportunity to announce that from now on the rest of his career would focus on the Grand Slams and one or two other tournaments on the circuit, depending on his state of form.
