Baba was re-released last year as there was no film starring Rajinikanth.
In the last few years, films like Kaala, Durbar, Annatha starring Superstar Rajinikanth have not been critically successful. While Gandhara and other Hindu films were well received, the Baba film was re-mastered and released in December last year with the aim of earning revenue by releasing the film.

More than the new films, Baba’s movie theaters were thronged by fans. In this case, to celebrate the success of the film, the photos of actor Rajinikanth inviting director Suresh Krishna and Baba’s crew to his office and giving him Babaji’s photo have been released and the hashtag #SuperstarRajinikanth is trending.
While Rajinikanth is starring in Jailer directed by Nelson, the film is expected to release on Diwali this year. Nelson has cast pan-Indian actors like Sivarajkumar from Kannada film industry, Mohanlal from Malayalam film industry, Pushpa villain Sunil from Telugu film industry and famous villain actor Jackie Shroff from Bollywood in Jailer.

Rajinikanth is also set to make a special appearance in Lal Salaam, directed by daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth and starring Vikrant and Vishnu Vishal.
