Cholavanthan: A 10-meter deep drinking well owned by the panchayat opposite the Anganwadi Center in Duvariman of Tiruparangunram Union is unsanitary.
From this well, drinking water is filled in the overhead reservoir tank with a capacity of 60,000 liters by motor and distributed to the general public. This drinking water is also distributed to the Anganwadi Centre.
Garbage such as plastic items, sandals, bottles are floating inside the well, which is covered with iron wire netting. Due to careless distribution of contaminated water, public and children are affected. Social activists are suffering because of the present state of Panchayat administration.
Panchayat worker said, “Drinking water is distributed both morning and evening. “The electric motor has been broken for a few days now,” he said.
