Restrictions on sale of gold jewelery eased in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Commerce has eased restrictions on the sale of gold jewelery in Kuwait. The deadline for hallmarking of gold jewelery has been extended till May 30.

The Ministry of Commerce has announced that gold jewelery with old hallmarking seals will be allowed to be sold and exhibited in Kuwait subject to restrictions until May 30. According to the revised decision, the ministry has directed that the complete details of gold jewelery with old hallmarking seals should be recorded in the jewelery and customer data register. The authorities also clarified that the notice containing the appointment information for sealing the rest of the jewelery should be displayed in front of the shop. Earlier, a ban was imposed on the sale of gold jewelery with old seals from January 1 in the country.
