Air India to buy 500 new planes from Arbus and Boeing Air India was first owned by the Tata Group, then converted into a government PSU and then again owned by the Tata Group. After Air India was taken over by Tata Group, Tata Company is making various drastic changes. Tata has stepped up efforts to take Air India global. As part of that, Air India has decided to buy new planes. According to reports, Air India plans to buy nearly 250 Airbus aircraft and 190 Boeing aircraft.

Air India has signed an agreement with Airbus last Friday. Also, the agreement between Boeing and Air India was signed on 27th of last month.

The new aircraft to be purchased by Air India will cost more than USD 100 billion. It is noteworthy that no other airline has ever bought so many aircraft at the same time. Air India’s new owner, the Tata group, is also aiming to attract customers and expand the aviation industry.

For this reason, Tata Company is showing seriousness in purchasing new aircrafts. Apart from that, it is also improving its service quality. Millions of Indians living abroad travel to Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru every year.

There is no doubt that if they travel on Air India, it will generate huge profits. Therefore, Tata has embarked on an effort to recapture international Indian passengers.

Currently, the international routes to India are dominated by airlines from Arab countries.

Arab airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad have new planes. These companies are also popular among Indian travelers for providing high quality services. In order to compete with these, Air India is forced to upgrade its flights and service quality.
