The Botanium company presents: Vega – a smart pot for hydroponic cultivation

by time news

company Botanium presented at the exhibition Environment held in Messe Frankfurt the smart pot Botanium Vega, a pot with the ability to manage autonomous irrigation. After a successful crowdfunding project conducted by the Swedish company with the first smart flowerpot produced by it, now comes the next phase. This time the company increases the existing one and offers an upgraded pot compared to the first generation.

The Vega pot is four times the size of the first generation and can receive up to 4 seedlings to grow at the same time. The principle of operation of the pot remains the same. The upper part of the pot houses the clay balls into which the seedlings are planted. The clay balls have proven to be effective and a good substrate for crops. In its lower half, the water tank is located, while on the front of the pot are lights that show the state of the water and warn when it is necessary to add water. In the upper part of the pot there is a special light bulb for growing, the height of which can be adjusted according to the height of the seedlings.

The use of the pot is very simple and the same as the pot of the first generation. Fill the storage tank with water, add the desired fertilizer and plant the seedlings. You can plant anything that grows upwards and not what grows in the ground (such as carrots and potatoes). A pipe built into the body of the pot, draws the water from the storage tank in the lower part of the pot and takes it out in the upper part of the pot. All excess water flows back to the bottom of the container, so the seedlings grow hydroponically. When you finish the planting season and want to replace a seedling, simply wash all the clay balls in boiling water and it cleans them and prepares them for replanting.

In the first generation, the pot knew how to water itself automatically every fixed period of time, and in the new generation, a remote control option was also added, including the option to see the water status and whether more needs to be added.

The company sells the first generation for NIS 267, before the cost of shipping from the factory in Sweden. The new generation, Botanium Vega will cost more and currently its expected price has not been announced.
