Austria, a symbol disappears forever: no more Mozart balls
One of the symbols dell’Austria world famous: goodbye to Mozart’s balls. E’ the company that produced the famous chocolates went bankrupt typical Austrians, – reads the Messenger – round and filled with marzipan, a classic gift to take home for the tourist on vacation or to grab at the airport duty free before take off. Unfortunately, with the pandemic, travel has decreased, tourists are fewer and fewer, and the manufacturer, based in Salzburg, has been forced to go into bankruptcy.
The company – continues the Messenger – is called Salzburg-Schokolade and now 140 employees risk losing their jobs. “The current blockade – explains CEO Christian Schugerl – and the significant increases in the cost of raw materials, energy, wages, logistics costs and packaging materials were further reasons for the crisis.” a story that began in 1897 when the company was founded in Salzburg and then, almost sixty years later, it was moved to the neighboring house Grodig.
