Bird Aerosystems (Bird Aerosystems) Maherzliya reported that it won a contract from a European client to install the defense system against surface-to-air missiles (AMPS) of its production in two state-of-the-art executive planes, one of which is a model Bombardier Global 7500, launched in 2016, and the other Gulfstream G700 model, launched in 2009.

Bird approached the tender together with an Asian company, which specializes in security projects in Europe and the Persian Gulf countries. One of the advantages of the current project is the fact that the converted aircraft, which include the defense systems, will receive a permanent license (Supplemental Type Certificate). The aircraft manufacturers Bombardier and Gulfstream will be involved in the license process. This means that in the future, Bird Aerosystems will be able to install its defense systems without the need to issue individual licenses for each and every tool, and this will shorten the training time of the aircraft.

Bird’s active defense system Detects, verifies and intercepts ground threats such as heat-guided shoulder-fired missiles, with minimal intervention from the pilot. The systems also include the company’s unique MACS sensor, which simultaneously performs both the verification operation, the tracking operation and the interception device direction operation, after an initial alert is received from the system’s electro-optical sensor. In doing so, the system reduces false alerts to an almost zero level.
