Kidnapping attempt in Colorado: a 50-year-old child took a supermarket cart at Walmart

Witnesses said that they heard screams like: ‘I’m going to kill this child’, and luckily they acted quickly and neutralized the suspect until the arrival of police forces who arrested her

A woman from Colorado was arrested after she tried to kidnap a child inside a Walmart store – until quick-thinking shoppers recognized what was happening and detained her until police arrived.

Last Thursday, shortly before 1:00 in the afternoon, 50-year-old Kimberly Jones tried to kidnap a child from a shopping cart inside the store in Alamosa.

It is not clear if the boy’s parents were near the shopping cart at the time of the incident, but as mentioned, customers who were in the supermarket heard screams and intervened quickly, thus stopping Jones to take the boy.

“Thanks to the quick actions of citizens inside the store, they were able to restrain the suspect until law enforcement arrived, and reunited the young child safely with his parents,” said an official statement from the police.

Now, the 50-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, criminal threats, child abuse and disorderly conduct, and is being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center.

Passersby who were at Walmart that day told news sites that they heard loud screams: “It was crazy, she screamed, ‘I’m going to kill this armed child, call child protective services’… It was crazy.”
