Marga Segal (72), a resident of Kiryat Motzkin, a respected educational figure in Kiryat and the legendary principal of Ort Motzkin High School, was killed tonight in a serious car accident at the Bari junction in the south of the country, while returning from a bicycle ride in the area. Segal was mortally wounded, and later died of her injuries.

Marga began her career in the world of education in Kiryat as a teacher, educator and then as the director of the Ort Motzkin Education Kiryat. She was considered a dominant, opinionated person who left her mark on the teachers and her students. In recent years she has been engaged in cycling.
Last night (Tuesday) at the end of a cycling activity in the south of Israel, she joined the car as a passenger. According to family members, the driver of the vehicle reached the intersection and a truck collided with the vehicle with force on the driver’s side. The driver was slightly injured, Segal was trapped and fatally injured.

In Ort Motzkin, the educational Kiryat that she managed for 11 years, held a memorial service this morning (Wednesday). Sarah Pinto, principal of Ort Motzkin, who replaced her in the position, told Maint Kiryot this morning (Wednesday): “I grew up at the school when Marga was principal, I was the coordinator of a class, and then the principal of an upper division under her.

About 12 years ago, Marga decided to end her position as the school director. Since her retirement, she has devoted a large part of her time to sports and leisure activities. She joined trekking trips, rode a bicycle, continued to meet with her students.
A former student said: “She was a first-class educator, there was and will never be like her, she was tough, but also warm and caring. It is so sad to hear how she ended her life.” She even volunteered at ICM and as part of her volunteering came to the school.
Haim Tzuri, Mayor of Kiryat Motzkin: “I was saddened to receive the news of the tragic and sudden death of Marga Segal, former director of the Municipal Education Kiryat Ort. Marga was an educator known and appreciated by the residents of Kiryat Motzkin. R.I.P”.
Eyal Oren, director of the education department: “Marga served for years as the director of the Yonatan High School and the director of Kiryat Education.” The news fell on us like thunder on a clear day. This is a difficult loss, my heart goes out to the family.’

Since her retirement Marga has lived an active and sporty life in Israel and around the world. Younger than her had a hard time keeping up with her fast pension.

Her wise advice, good energy, joy of life, cheerfulness and colorfulness will be greatly missed by me as well, but they are also a source of comfort and a legacy that will continue to resonate.”
