Pension reform: “We must withdraw all our amendments”, assures Bayou

by time news

He assures us, it is “parliamentary strategy”. The deputy EELV Julien Bayou welcomed, this Wednesday morning, the rejection, during the night, of article 2 of the pension reform, which provided for the establishment of an index in companies to fight against unemployment of seniors.

It is, for him, the sign that the opposition “can win” in the National Assembly, in particular on article 7, he judged on the set of RMC-BFMTV. There are only two days left for parliamentarians to debate the text of the pension reform before the continuation of the parliamentary shuttle. But, for now, there are still more than 14,000 amendments to consider, even if the Nupes has already withdrawn 1,000.

“We can win”

According to the elected Parisian, it is possible that the controversial article, which plans to push back the retirement age by two years, will indeed be debated by the end of the week. “If we work well, if we withdraw the amendments and take the government at its word” by having this “major debate (…) we can win”, he said. “We want to have the debate on age and we can win,” predicted the elected official, assuring that it was now “the government which (was going) to obstruct to avoid having” this discussion .

But, so that the deputies can discuss article 7, Julien Bayou repeated it: “we must withdraw all our amendments, it is the strategy which we adopted”. An indirect appeal to rebellious France, which had already deleted all of those concerning article 2. “We have made amendments to be able to withdraw them”, insisted Julien Bayou again. “Let’s live up to the dignity of the street”, concluded the deputy, referring to the various demonstrations which took place without notable incidents. It remains to be seen whether this “parliamentary strategy” will be sufficient.
