The Ministry of Health confirms: stabilization of morbidity from the influenza virus

According to the data, in the last week about 330 positive hospitalizations for influenza virus and 211 positive hospitalizations for RSV were reported. 41% of those confirmed to have the flu were adults, 37% were children and 4.8% were hospitalized in the department of pregnant women. However, until 6.2.23 only 17.8% of those insured in Israel’s health insurance funds had been vaccinated against influenza, with the leading age group in vaccination being 58.6%.

The flu wave started around October and since then the National Center for Disease Control has reported about 5,186 hospitalizations. In light of the data and despite the decrease in morbidity, the Ministry of Health urges the public, especially those over the age of 65, to get vaccinated every year to prevent serious illness that follows the flu, such as pneumonia, respiratory complications, and more.
