VIDEO. War in Ukraine: the “Bahmut fortress” holds firm in the face of Russian advances

by time news

“The meat grinder is in action”, is how Yevgeny Prigojine, the boss of the paramilitary organization Wagner, describes the situation around the small town of Bakhmout. “We won’t be celebrating anytime soon, Bakhmout won’t be taken tomorrow, because there is strong resistance, shelling. »

Fighting rages in eastern Ukraine. In recent weeks, the Russians seem to have taken up an initiative. They communicate on their latest advances, like this village, Krasna Hora, near Bakhmout, in the oblast of Donetsk, recovered with great missile strikes. But at what cost. “Russia continues to send large numbers of additional people into battle. These people are poorly trained and poorly equipped, and that is why we see that they are suffering a lot of casualties,” said Lloyd James Austin III, the US Secretary of Defense.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, describes an extremely tense situation while praising the merits of his people, who hold Bakhmout firmly: “They say Fortress Bakhmout for a reason. There is such an expression in our society: our fortress is alive, by which I mean living people, such a living wall. This war is so costly for the history of our country”.
