Thanks to documentation on social networks: Border Guard detectives and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors managed to locate the lion cub known as “Abu Malek” who was being illegally held by several suspects in a hiding apartment in the center this evening (Wednesday). The lion cub will be taken to a medical examination and treated by the inspectors of the Nature and Parks Authority.
Recently, several videos have been uploaded on social networks documenting a lion cub that was named “Abu Malek” and was illegally held by several suspects.
An undercover investigation was launched in the central unit of the Southern Police Department, and through technological means and advanced investigative operations, this evening the unit’s detectives and Nature and Parks Authority inspectors raided a hiding apartment in the central area and located the lion cub.
According to the suspicion, in recent times the lion cub was purchased several times by several suspects who owned and traded it. The investigation by the Border Guard continues in order to find more people involved.
Corporal Rabia Kahlul, deputy commander of the central unit of the Southern Police Department, who led the detectives to the hiding apartment, notes: “For several weeks, all the unit’s detectives were mobilized in order to locate the illegally held lion cub, and its videos became viral on social media.”
“Upon receiving the “golden information” about the cub’s location, the unit’s detectives jumped out of their house and managed to break into the hiding apartment in the central area where the lion cub known in the networks as ‘Abu Malek’ was kept,” he added.
