Ready for new challenges; World Bank president to resign

Washington: David Malpass announced his resignation from the post of World Bank president. Malpass announced that he will resign at the end of June. The resignation comes with one year remaining in the term.

David Malpass said that the past four years have been the most important of his career and he is getting ready to take on new challenges.

“The last four years have been the most important period of my career. Decided to take on new challenges. The Bank Group’s interventions are critical at a time when even developed countries are facing crises,’ added Malpass.

Malpas’ stand for Ukraine during the Russian invasion was remarkable. His work to help the Afghan people was also an inspiration to the nations of the world. “MALPAS also plays an important role in helping economically disadvantaged countries,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.

Yellen also announced that the United States will soon nominate a new World Bank president.

Malpass took over as head of the World Bank in April 2019 after serving as the top official for international affairs at the US Treasury during the Trump administration.
