United States: A man is acquitted of a murder he did not commit after 28 years in prison

by time news

The court in Missouri in the United States this week acquitted Lamar Johnson of the murder conviction after serving 28 years in prison. The person who helped him bring justice to light, is an American investigative organization that helps prisoners who are in prison for their claim of no wrongdoing.

50-year-old Lamar Johnson denied throughout the years what was attributed to him and this week, following a witness who recanted and a prisoner who confessed to the murder, he was released from custody to his home.

The court convicted Johnson in 1994 after he was arrested as a suspect in the murder of Marcus Boyd who was shot by two masked men. The incident happened on the porch of Johnson’s home, which raised suspicions that he was connected to the murder despite his claims that he was not home at the time.

After the release he was moved and said: “I want to thank the judge and all the people who came to support me, just thank you.”
