There was an evening of theater productions by 26 male and female 12th graders from the theater program of the “Haemek Western” school.
The plays constitute the practical matriculation exam of the students of the major, who are also responsible for every aspect of the production. Each student has an acting role – portraying a character in a play, and a production role – as a director, producer, sound designer, set designer, costumes, etc., for which they are tested in the practical matriculation exam.
The students of “The Western Valley” staged four different productions this year: “Eniho” by Etgar Kerat, “Fear of the Event” by Noam Gil, “Butterfly in the Net” by Ray Cooney and “Popcorn” by Ben Elton.
The work process began when the students formulated a significant question that they are interested in asking through the presentation they will present. They looked for a play through which they would ask the question, found various sources of inspiration and began a complete journey of research and creation, while working independently and in depth under the guidance and guidance of Yron Bar David – the course coordinator and Nega Zeke – teacher of the course.
Ilanit Eran, director of the ‘Haemek Al-Wadi’ school: “26 students presented the best plays, an exciting class like no other! Artistic activity is a special activity, which comes from the heart, and gives layers of depth, sensitivity and a different perspective on the world. The very learning expands the Your horizons, gives you self-confidence and teaches you how to stand on a stage, all these are tools that will accompany you for the rest of your life.”
Eyal Betzer, Head of the Emek Jezreel Regional Council: “The Emek Jezreel Regional Council sees theater as a cornerstone of education – we expose the children of the Emek from early childhood to theater plays and music and dance performances, in order to enrich their world and make them consumers of fine culture in the future as well. Thanks to Ilanit Eran – the principal of the school, to the wonderful teachers, the school staff and the parents – who embrace you and support this important endeavor – the artistic endeavor. Thank you, students, for choosing art that enriches our world, expands the soul and gives us a complex and multidimensional way to process the reality around us .”
