The renowned Argentine artist Sandra Mihanovich received the title of “illustrious visitor” from the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, in a ceremony led by the city’s mayor, Carolina Cosse. During the event, Ella Mihanovich expressed her love for the neighboring country and highlighted the generosity and kindness of Uruguayans, pointing out that Uruguay is a “paradise” and that she feels at home there.

Mayor Cosse praised Mihanovich for being an example of “the human condition,” noting her commitment to the best in humanity, something that “requires courage and a labor of love for beauty and others.” The artist, who will perform at the Sodre National Auditorium on February 16, recalled her previous visits to Uruguay and her connection to the music of the Mihanovich family, which originated in a house on 1780 Montevideo street.

During the ceremony, Mihanovich performed “Y hoy te vi”, a song by Eduardo Mateo and Jorge Trasante included in the album Mateo y Trasante released in 1976. The artist expressed her joy at the recognition and defined it as the highest award she can receive a visitor. In recent years, the Municipality of Montevideo has recognized numerous cultural personalities as illustrious visitors, including Patti Smith, Kevin Johansen, Liliana Herrero and Alessandro Baricco.
