The family of the famous American actor, Bruce Willis, said yesterday, Thursday, that his health is deteriorating, about a year after he was diagnosed with aphasia, which is a general name for a group of neurological diseases that cause brain damage and lose the ability to speak.
A statement released by the family said that Willis, 67, suffers from frontotemporal dementia [اضطرابات دماغية تصيب الفصين الجبهي والصدغي من الدماغ].
And last year, the star of the “Die Hard” series retired from acting due to his aphasia, which impeded his cognitive abilities and prevented him from speaking. Yesterday, Thursday, his family announced that the disease had been diagnosed in a clearer way, and it was found that he had frontotemporal dementia.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of being unable to speak in the spring of 2022, his condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia,” the family added in the statement on the Frontotemporal Dementia Association website.
“Unfortunately, communication challenges are only a symptom of the illness Bruce is facing. While it is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
His eldest daughter, actress Rumer Willis, posted the ad on Instagram and received support from others in the entertainment industry.
