The double Olympic champion confided to RMC Sport his anger in the case of the kimono which opposes him to the French Judo Federation.
Clarisse Agbégnénou, who is making her international comeback this week in Tel Aviv, Israel, refuses to wear the kimono imposed on her by the Federation. The latter decided to deprive her of a coach and to freeze her financial aid. “If we have a coach, it is because he is useful for something. There, everyone had their coach. I found it a shame for a recovery not to have my coach, deplores Agbégnénou to RMC Sport this Friday. I’m a competitor, so I wouldn’t say it’s just because of that. But I find that really sad.“Agbégnénou thus chose to wear the kimono of his equipment manufacturer (Mizuno) and not that of the French team (Adidas). “This is unacceptable, I will not let this pass, continues Agbégnénou. They don’t respect me, it’s disrespect. Teddy Riner does what he wants, he has a kimono in which he feels comfortable. It is an important tool for winning. Me, I’m being prevented. (…) It is my job that they are jeopardizing and I will not let it pass. I’ll call the right people and if it has to go to court, we’ll go to court. But I won’t let it pass.»
