IAS Sudden death of officer Katiravan

Recently 41 IAS including 11 District Collectors. Officers were transferred. Kathiravan, who was the managing director of the Tamilnadu Magnesite Company in Salem, was one of them. He was transferred and posted as Director, Tamil Nadu Road Development Scheme, Annasalai, Chennai. He was on leave for a few days and came to the new office yesterday morning to take charge.

IAS, IPS in Virugambakkam, Chennai Katiravan lived in the officers quarters. No one was at home yesterday. Yesterday he had called the car driver to go to the new office. The driver, who was waiting in the car, called Kathiravan on his cell phone as he was late. But he didn’t pick up the phone. So the driver went to his house and looked. There Katiravan was found unwell.

In hometown…

The driver immediately took him to a private hospital in Vadapalani. Katiravan died there. After that, his body is taken to Gandhipuram next to his hometown Senthamangalam in Namakkal district for last rites. Funerals are held there.

Government pain

A press release issued by Public Sector Secretary Jaganathan states:-

IAS It is with great sadness that the Government informs that Officer Kathiravan has passed away. Born on 3.6.1970, he passed away on 17th (yesterday) at 10 am due to heart attack. He died in a private hospital in Chennai. The last rites will be held in his native place, Gandhipuram, Namakkal district.

Former District Collector

TNPSC He wrote the examination and joined the government service on 12.9.1996 as Agriculture Officer. Appointed as Trainee Deputy Collector in Dharmapuri District in 2002.

Kallakurichi, Aranthangi, Villupuram R.D.O. He has worked in various government jobs including Katiravan on 27.12.2013 as I.A.S. Got the status.

After that, Katiravan has also held the posts of Salem District General Manager, Madurai Corporation Commissioner, Krishnagiri and Erode District Collector. He has a wife named Thenmozhi and 2 daughters.
