Elections will not be held on March 9?

The Election Commission has informed the High Court that it will not be able to hold the local government elections as promised.

Its chairman said that due to lack of funds, the problems in holding the election on the scheduled date will be mentioned.

The Election Commission had earlier notified the High Court that all necessary steps had been taken to conduct the elections.

As the postal ballots were not available from the government printing office in time, the postal ballot was postponed indefinitely.

Earlier, postal voting for local government elections was scheduled to be held on 22nd, 23rd and 24th of this month.
