Islamabad: Pakistan is going through the worst economic recession in history. The life of the common man in the country has become very difficult as the prices of all the essential items have gone up sharply. Now the defense minister of the country has given a statement which is equivalent to a slap in the face of the people of Pakistan who are struggling to overcome each day.

Defense Minister and PML-N leader Khwaja Asif responded that Pakistan is going through a severe crisis and has become bankrupt. The minister’s remarks were made while addressing a function organized at a private college in Sialkot.

You will hear that Pakistan has suffered an economic collapse. That’s right. We are now citizens of a bankrupt country. Khwaja Asif said that people should strive to stand firmly on their own feet. Such a remark came from an important representative of the administration in a situation where inflation is reaching its peak.

The current situation is that even water and bread have recorded record prices in the country. Pakistani people have to pay Rs 250 for a liter of milk. Chicken, the daily food of the people of Islamabad, is also at a record price. People have to pay 780 rupees to get a kilo of chicken. Meanwhile, the defense minister, who declared himself bankrupt, blamed the previous government led by Imran Khan for the current state of the country.

It was the PTI-led Imran government that allowed terrorism to flourish in the country. Pakistan’s current destiny is the result of the games played by Imran Khan when he was in power. Reports are also coming out that Khwaja Asif said that the verdict is the terror that the country is experiencing today.

Asif has declared that the country is bankrupt, but the solution lies within Pakistan itself. Still, the defense minister said that he is approaching the International Monetary Fund for help. With the remarks made by Khwaja Asif becoming a big controversy, the video footage of the speech has also gone viral.

In 2019, the IMF provided six billion US dollars in aid to Pakistan. The IMF once again provided US$ 1.1 billion in 2022 after the unexpected floods wreaked havoc in the country. But later, as the political crisis worsened in Pakistan and the country failed to achieve economic growth, the IMF stopped disbursing aid last November.
