Kuwait’s foreign minister says there is no plan to restore relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

Kuwait City: Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al Abdullah said Kuwait has no plans to restore relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He said he would hold talks with Iraq on Sunday on maritime border issues and hoped efforts to end the dispute would make progress.

He said this in an interview given to Reuters on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. This is a matter of first priority for the government. He added that they are working with Iraq on issues related to maritime demarcation.

He said the legal and technical teams will meet on Sunday to seek an agreement and they are moving forward. He also said that the situation between Israel and Palestine is not improving.
