LThe beauty contest for the Channel 6 over-the-air frequency will have a winner in the coming days. Arcom must choose the winner between M6, the group that has held the frequency for thirty-six years and is led by Nicolas de Tavernost, and Xavier Niel, founder of the telecoms operator Free, who wants to be a new entrant in the television with his project Six. Independent of public authorities – and therefore theoretically of political pressure from the Elysée, Matignon or the Ministry of Culture – Arcom will rule by a majority of its nine members.
