The gimmick of the Y100, Vivo’s new mid-range phone, is a back that changes color. The back is made of fluorite glass that changes its color depending on the temperature, and there are two models that do this: one with a light orange back that turns orange when hot, and one with a light blue back that turns turquoise when the temperature rises. There is also a black one that does not change its color.
This is not the first time that Vivo uses fluorescent glass in its device, but this time it happens in a device whose price is only about 350 dollars, and it also supports IP54.
Although the back has a glass back, the surrounding frame is made of plastic, and it wraps a 6.38-inch AMOLED screen with a small notch, with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It also offers a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and HDR+ support. The processor is a Dimensity 900 with 5G connectivity, and with support for 8 gigabytes of working memory and 128 gigabytes of storage memory, with the working memory being virtually expandable by a maximum of 8 additional gigabytes.
At the back in both circles there are three cameras. The top circle contains a 64-megapixel camera with the support of an optical image stabilizer, and together with you there is a 2-megapixel depth camera. In the lower circle there is a 2-megapixel camera for macro photography and an LED flash. The front camera is 16 megapixels.
The battery has a working capacity of 4,500 mAh and is charged at a maximum power of 44 watts. There is support for Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 8021.11ac and the operating system is Android 13 out of the box.
