Problem in Paying Electricity Charges to Anganwadis | Problem in payment of electricity bill burden to Anganwadis

by time news

Confusion has arisen in the payment of electricity bills for Anganwadi centers.

54 thousand 439 Anganwadi Centers are functioning in the state under the Integrated Development Program under the Department of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights. Out of this, 41 thousand 133 centers are functioning in government buildings and rest in rented buildings.

The electricity bill for these, till last 2 months, was charged as household usage fee. The electricity bill was being paid on behalf of the respective panchayat administrations.

At present the electricity tariff for Anganwadi centers is fixed on the basis of ‘2A’ classification. Accordingly, 100 units of free electricity have been cancelled. A charge of Rs.8 per unit. As a result, the panchayat administration, who had been paying the electricity bill until now, said, ‘We cannot pay the electricity bill; The Anganwadi management should pay for it.’

Anganwadi Employees and Helpers Union State Vice President Chitra said, “How can we pay the electricity bill for the Anganwadi which is running in a government building?” Currently, the electricity bill comes up to Rs 1,500. We do not have any departmental guidance. It is also not clear whether the refund will be given if you pay your own money. The government should take appropriate action for this problem,” he said.
