The film ‘Lamerai Ein’, by the students of the film major at the Amit Amichai yeshiva in Rehovot, won third place in the documentary film category, at the Hammad majors’ young creative competition conference

The film is a glimpse into the world of Avichai, a blind guy who doesn’t let his disability get in his way. He is married with three children and serves as a primary school teacher, a character who is an inspiration to all of us.

“We wanted to make a film about an interesting personality and after thinking, we came to Avichai through the photographer Aviad, whose brother studies with Avichai,” shares Elisha Elkon, the film’s director. “I was very excited that I had the privilege of meeting Avichai, the hero of the film. He is inspiring as a person, as a father, as a husband and as a priest, and we tried to convey in the film his character and how he overcomes all obstacles. The film was made by me and the team wholeheartedly and we invested effort and time in making it. And we were very happy about So we made it to the finals of the national Hamad and we were excited about winning third place in the category.”

Idit Gan Zvi, the film teacher: “In the film ‘Apparently’, my students were able to get to know Avichai and learned from him and his family that there is nothing that stands in the way of desire despite obstacles and disabilities. I am blessed to have been a part of the significant experience they went through and to enjoy together with them the recognition of the film’s value and its winning the Hamad Young Creation Award in the documentary film category”.
