Billing 2 times for a road constructed once Billing 2 times for a once constructed road

Near Perambalur, the government officials have billed twice for the road that was built once.

In Gunnam Panchayat under Veypur Panchayat Union of Perambalur District, in the financial year 2021-22, a single metal road was constructed from Kunnam village boundary to Periyavenmani village boundary under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at a cost of 36 lakh 49 thousand rupees.

In the last financial year 2019-20, rural infrastructure development, at a cost of one crore 6 lakh 90 thousand rupees, from Gunnam village to Periya Venmani village, a tar road has been placed at two places.

KTR Construction Duraikannu from Berali village has taken the contract and laid this road.

It is said that the government has wasted money by issuing two bills for the same road, one bill for constructing a metal road from Kunnam to Periya Venmani and one bill for constructing a tarred road from Periya Venmani village boundary to Gunnam village boundary.

Contractor, PTO, Executive Engineer, Project Director and Assistant Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer are probably involved in this scam.

However, the road is shifting and potholed. Therefore, the expectation of the public is that the corruption that has taken place in the construction of this hall should be properly investigated and action should be taken against those involved in the malpractice.
