ANALYSIS – In thirty-five years of existence, the flagship index of the Paris Stock Exchange has seen around a hundred companies. Who’s next?

It’s a little game that managers love to indulge in: trying to flush out the future stars of the rating. Spotting the companies that will one day join the CAC 40 early enough is the guarantee of hitting the jackpot. Entry into the holy of holies on the Parisian coast generally crowns a formidable stock market career. The last company to join the flagship index was Eurofins Scientific in September 2021. The title of the world’s number one bioanalyst had soared more than 80% that year, and had tripled in value in three years. In 2020, Alstom, Teleperformance and Worldline had joined the index. All these titles had come through this particularly gloomy year without incident. Entry into the CAC 40 is generally a tremendous accelerator.
