Meghalaya govt denied permission for PM Modi’s rally in Tura- Dinamani

The Meghalaya government’s denial of permission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting has created a stir.

Voting for the Meghalaya Assembly elections will be held on 27th. The ruling National People’s Party, BJP, Congress and Trinamool Congress are contesting this election separately.

Following this, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the final campaign in Meghalaya on February 24. After Modi campaigned on Shillong Road, the BJP had planned a massive rally at PA Sangma Maidan in Dura.

In this case, the state government has refused permission to hold a public meeting at Sangma Maidan due to maintenance work. It is noteworthy that the National People’s Party formed the government in the last 2018 elections with the support of the BJP and regional parties.

BJP National Secretary Rituraj Sinha said, “The people of the country know that the Sangma Maidan was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in December last year. However, they denied permission to the public meeting saying that maintenance work was going on. “The political parties have come to know that the Modi wave has started to spread in Meghalaya, so they have denied permission to Modi’s public meeting,” he said.
