Former stage winner and yellow jersey on the Tour de France, Robert Cazala, one of Raymond Poulidor’s loyal teammates has left us.

A professional cyclist between 1958 and 1966, the native Béarnais had had a great career on the circuit. Several times well placed on the specials (3e Paris-Nice and 4th in the Flèche wallone in 1960), he also had the honor of wearing the yellow jersey in the Tour de France and winning several stages on the big loop.

He was one of the first to popularize the role of team member alongside the famous Raymond Poulidor at Mercier. Robert Cazale died last Friday at the age of 89.
