There are more than 1,000 ration card holders in Chaplanatham South Panchayat. A full-time ration shop in Cheplanantham South and a part-time ration shop in Seeranguppam are functioning through the Ravi Primary Agricultural Co-operative Bank, which has been working for the convenience of the common people of the region.
More than 400 ration card holders living in East Colony have to walk 2 km to the ration shop in Dharam to buy supplies. Due to this, elderly people, pregnant women and disabled people are suffering a lot. Therefore, the people of the area have demanded that the authorities should take steps to set up a ration shop in Cheplanantham South Panchayat, East Colony.
