The woman who claims to be Madeleine McCann said she was contacted by a family contact and that the missing girl’s parents agree to have a DNA test done with her. Julie Wendel, 22, from Poland, made headlines last week after claiming she could be Madeleine – the girl The 3-year-old British girl who disappeared in 2007 from the Praia de Luz resort in Portugal.

“The test will be conducted soon,” Wendell noted in an Instagram post. The girl’s parents, Jerry and Kate, have yet to officially respond to the chain of events. However, an associate of the couple said that “the family members are not ready to take any risks and want to check all possible directions of the investigation.”

“It is very important to consider all the details and you cannot ignore the fact that there is a resemblance between her and Madeleine,” said a close relative of the McCann family. “They look alike and we don’t disagree about that at all. If what she says is true, then there is a real chance that it really is her.”

Wendell said she started wondering if she was a McCann “a few months ago” after hearing “something” from her grandmother. The 21-year-old believes her age may be wrong as McCann was born in May 2003, meaning she would have turned 20 in three months.

However, German investigators believe that McCann – who reportedly disappeared during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007 – was murdered by sex offender Christian Bruckner. Despite the extensive search and countless police investigations, the girl’s body was never found.

In recent months, people have taken to social media as part of a trend to show their likeness to McCann. The latest claims made on Instagram saw the German woman comparing her photos to those of McCann as “proof” that it was the same person.

She claims to have a freckle on her leg and a spot on her eye in the same places as McCann. The young woman, who lives in Poland, is so sure she is a McCann that she is asking for help with a DNA test to prove her claim.

“Police investigators from Britain and Poland are trying to ignore me. I will tell my story in posts here. Help me,” she wrote to her followers, who have already reached more than 200,000 people. “I don’t remember being taken away from there. I mean, I don’t remember almost all of my childhood,” she responded to followers.
