Puliyattam is the directorial debut of Santhosh Kallat, the scriptwriter of popular channel shows. The script of the film Pappas released in 2018 was written by Rachana Santhosh. The film is produced by Saju Abdulkhader under the banner of Seven Master Productions. Anand Menon, Biju M and Rajesh Marath are executive producers. Rasheed Ahmed has managed the tea ceremony. Sudhir Karamana, Meera Nair, Mithun M Dass, Sumadevi, Deepu Navaikulam, Siva, Jayaraj Mitra, Binju Jacob, Victor Louis Marie, Chandran Pattambi, Jagat Jeeth, Selvaraj, Alvin and Master Fahad Rasheed are playing the lead roles.
Jose, alias Puli Jose, was a great tiger sportsman of Thrissur. When a tragedy in his life turns him into an alcoholic, he gives up playing tigers. When Manohar, a fan of Jose’s puli game, returns home from the Gulf after many years, he asks to play Jose’s puli game again. Overcoming the objections of his wife Mary, Jose decides to wear the tiger costume again. Then Puliyattam is a film that unfolds the emotional moments that happen in the lives of Jose and Manohar.
Puliyattam has received accolades at several international film festivals. Milan Gold Awards – Official Selection. New York Movie Awards- Honorable Mention, Ukrainian Dream Festival- Official Selection, Anatolian Film Awards- Award Winner, Fox International Film Festival- Best Feature Film, Festival Napoleon on Camps Elsie in Paris- Official Selection. Won Best Director and Official Selection awards at the 10th Noida International Film Festival.
