Women’s cricket tournament for the first time in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: For the first time in Coimbatore, a district-level white ball T-20 cricket tournament for college girls is being held at PSG, Medical College Grounds.

On behalf of Tamilnadu Cricket Association, district-level women’s cricket tournament is being conducted in various districts. As a part of it, the white ball T-20 cricket tournament between the colleges of Coimbatore district will start on February 20 and continue till tomorrow.

The teams from Avinasilingam University, CMS, College CIT, Nirmala College for Women, Krishnammal College for Women, Ramakrishna College of Arts and Sciences, Shakti Eng., and College of Technology will compete in the competition.

In yesterday’s match, the teams of CMS, College and Avinasilingam University clashed. CMS College won the toss and elected to bat first and added 133 runs for the loss of one wicket in 20 overs. Gayathri (29*) added runs for the team.

Avinasilingam, who played next, won by scoring 134 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 15.5 overs. Sheena took five wickets for CMS.

In the match that took place the day before yesterday, the CIT college team beat Shakti Eng. and the technical college team by 86 runs; Ramakrishna Arts and Science College defeated Krishnammal College by 145 runs.
