Unemployment continues to decline, but the recovery threatens to stagnate

by time news

The decline in unemployment in Berlin is not slowing down. The number of unemployed in the city fell below the 200,000 mark for the first time in August, but has since fallen again by almost 20,000. In November alone, the local employment agencies registered a good 5,700 fewer unemployed than in October. Compared to November last year, the number even fell by more than 22,000 to currently 180,292 unemployed Berliners. However, that is still almost 32,000 more unemployed than in November 2019, when the unemployment rate was 7.6 percent. Now it is 8.9 percent after 10.1 percent a year ago.
