Many art objects are carefully moved from gallery to gallery, but they are displayed with extreme care while keeping the exhibit irreplaceable. Such was the sculpture of the artist Jeff Koons – who created a figurine that resembles a dog made of a balloon, when the exhibit arrived at the prestigious Wynwood Art gallery in Miami. The gallery was opened to people defined as VIP only, but it turns out that even important people are not immune from mistakes.

One of the visitors to the gallery tripped, but before she fell she dropped an extremely expensive object with me: a luxurious statuette worth no less than 42 thousand dollars. The case was documented on the Tik Tok network, when people reported that the visitor put her hand on the statue and this caused it to shatter.

The director of the gallery, Cedric Burrow, dismissed the rumors that the visitor had touched the statue, saying that “of course it hurts the heart to see such an iconic and prestigious item broken into pieces. However, the collector did not intend to do so, she did not touch it at all. It was the opening event and there were many A lot of people. This woman tripped unintentionally and before she could stand up, the statue was already smashed.”

He added that as is customary in prestigious galleries, the exhibit was insured by an insurance company, and he sent the fragments to the gallery for the purpose of checking the data. It is interesting to note that collectors who heard about the case rushed to submit an offer to the gallery to purchase the fragments of the statue, which are probably also valued at a considerable amount, and perhaps due to the unique incident that happened to the unlucky statuette.
