Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been announced as Shiv Sena President. The Shiv Sena president has been announced after the Election Commission recognized the Shinde faction as the original Shiv Sena. The final decision regarding this was taken in the Shiv Sena’s national executive meeting.

Last day, the commission allowed the party’s name and election symbol, arrow and bow, to the Shinde faction. After the crucial announcement of the commission, the chairman was chosen in an important meeting held by the Shiv Sena. Ahead of the Shiv Sena-led national executive meeting, the party asked the media to call it Shiv Sena instead of the Shinde camp.

The Election Commission’s decision to declare the Shinde faction as the original Shiv Sena came at the end of a long legal battle. It was the Shinde faction that emerged from the Shiv Sena that destroyed the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition led by the Uddhav faction. While Uddhav maintained that they were following the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray, the majority of Shiv Sena members stood with Shinde. Finally, Eknath Shinde has been decorated as the President of Shiv Sena.
