With “Heart of a Child”: director Steven Spielberg won the “Golden Bear” award

by time news

Tribute to one of the most talented directors in history: Steven Spielberg stood excitedly on the stage of the Palace of Festivals in Berlin yesterday and received the “Golden Bear” award for Lifetime Achievement before the screening of his autobiographical film, “The Fiebelmen”. To see a western without me, that today, I took a little money and went to see it myself. Then I asked them for an explanation about the film.”

Spielberg said that the death of his father about six years ago, and the death of his mother in 2020 and the corona epidemic made him “think for the first time about old age and death. It is time to make a memoir. All the films I have made are my children, and I love them all. The most difficult film was ‘Jaws’ and the moving most of ‘Schindler’s List’. The film enterprise I am most proud of is the ‘Fund for the Commemoration of Testimonies on the Holocaust’. This is the most important thing I have done and am doing, and it will also be extended to testimonies on other genocides; in Armenia, in Cambodia and in Sarajevo.”

The excited director added that “My family name is Spielberg – a combination of mountain and game, and it defines my work. Director Francois Truffaut told me that I have the heart of a child and I should make children’s films, and that’s how I made IT.”

According to him, his parents’ divorce was a trauma for him and made him make the film “Empire of the Sun”: “Cinema is self-healing”, he explained.
Meanwhile, after the enthusiastic reception received yesterday by “Golda”, Guy Nativ’s film, which made its debut at the prestigious festival, it received mixed reviews yesterday.

Some critics said that the film depicting the life of Golda Meir starring the British Oscar winner, Helen Mirren, “is excellent” and there were those who claimed that Mirren’s acting overshadowed the other actors and that in the end “it is a reasonable drama about the Yom Kippur War”. We also claimed that in the movie Golda appears “as the only man” who takes all the responsibility in front of the bereft men around her, and especially the Minister of Defense at the time, Moshe Dayan.

Either way, Nativ is already thinking about his next project, which is expected to be a collaboration between the Israeli and the Iranian actress, Zar Amir Ibrahimi, who is in exile in France. The actress, who won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, was forced to flee Iran after the authorities released a nude film of her being forced to strip and undergo a “medical examination”, which ruined her career in the country. In a conversation with “Maariv” Amir Ibrahimi said “I will be very excited to come visit Israel. I have dreamed of this for a long time.”
