Microelectronics grows in the global geostrategic context.- David Ramírez Morán
Microelectronics continues to be one of the main fields in which international tension is evident. The scenario resulting from globalization, in which very few players held a large part of the importance of the sector, has combined with the change in the geopolitical situation, which has accentuated the problems that the lack of strategic sovereignty poses for States. and the growing dependence on issues that, given current trends, are increasingly going to acquire greater relevance.
The nature of the problems has transcended purely technological issues, such as access to technology, its manufacture and the materials necessary to carry it out, and are reaching political and geostrategic dimensions whose consequences are beginning to be measurable in industrial and economic terms. The effects and limitations of the measures adopted are becoming evident with statements and data from the sector that generate some alarm.
