ANTT approves contract for new bullet train

by time news

The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) approved a concession to operate a bullet train line that should connect the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The municipality published the authorization in the Official Diary of the Union this Wednesday the 22nd.

ANTT will allow TAV Brasil to operate the line for 99 years. The company was opened in February 2021, is headquartered in a room located in the Vila Buarque neighborhood, in the center of the city of São Paulo, and has a share capital of R$ 100,000.

The company asked ANTT to build a railway line of about 380 km in length, with four stations initially planned. The estimated duration of a journey by high-speed train between Rio and São Paulo is approximately 85 minutes.

There are still no details on how the company intends to make the project viable, which was one of the great goals of the PT governments to be ready before the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro.

Despite this, the governments at the time had problems with the launch of the bidding notice, which was postponed at least four times, which frustrated the auction launched by the Executive to hire a private entity to make the project viable.
