First of all, it is necessary to remember that it is the largest institution of its kind in Latin America thanks to its more than 70 million beneficiaries. The work it does is essential to care for all the diseases and illnesses that afflict the population. Throughout its history, it has faced all kinds of adversities, but the strongest is the pandemic that we are experiencing today.
In that sense, The IMSS was born by presidential decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on January 19, 1943. Since then it has seen a transformation to ensure the quality of health services. Thus, its current capacity is 1,808 medical units divided into three levels of care: 1,525 Family Medicine Units (UMF), 258 Area and Regional General Hospitals, as well as 25 High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE).

Interested specialist doctors should enter this page from February 15 to March 2, 2023. There they must register to later attend the face-to-face recruitment event that will be held from March 8 to 9, 2023 at the facilities of the “Churubusco Convention Center” located at Calzada de Tlalpan #1721, Col. San Diego Churubusco, Alcaldía Coyoacán, CP 04120, Mexico City.
Attendance at the event will depend on the appointment that will be notified via registered email, which will specify the day and time at which you must attend the event.
Specialties for which there are places available
Requirements to compete for a place
A) Graduates from other institutions, generation 2023
• From Public Sector institutions or Decentralized Public Organizations: diploma
institution of the specialty, issued at the federal level.
• From Private Sector institutions: specialty diploma issued by a private institution
recognized before the CIFRHS.
B) Graduates of previous generations (any institution, including the IMSS)
• Bachelor’s degree and to practice the specialty to which you are applying for admission.
• University degree in a medical specialty from an educational institution endorsed by the CIFRHS and professional specialty certificate.

• Valid official identification with photograph (voting card, passport, etc.).
• Three recent photographs (children’s size in color, on matte paper).
• Updated birth certificate.
• Recent proof of address.
• Unique Population Registry Code (CURP).
• Federal Taxpayer Registry (RFC) issued by the Tax Administration System.
• In case of having a work history in the IMSS, present proof of payment.
Note: In case of having studied abroad, they must present the documentation with the apostille revalidation of studies before the SEP and professional specialty certificate.
